All the guys checked in on Saturday and we went straight to work on putting the puzzle together. What a great group of young men! Everyone is working very hard with an enthusiastic and positive attitude; I think these guys are on a mission. Everyone showed up in really good shape so we have not had to dwell on the fitness.
Yesterday we had our first intra-squad scrimmage which we call the "Steak and Beans" game. It was a pretty close game and all the guy played really well. The guys that ended up having to eat the beans were not too disappointed since I made my best batch of beans ever! After the game we met at the Scoreboard Grill where the guys entertained the town with the 1st Annual "DWU Idol" Men's Soccer Karaoke Contest (Round 1). It was so much fun and the guys won over a lot of members of the community. Saturday we will play our first match against an opponent with our "Friendship Alumni Game"; after the game, the top 8 Karaoke point winners will entertain by competing in the championship round of the DWU Idol Men's Soccer Contest to see who will be named DWU Idol Champion. Festivities begin at 5pm, Cadwell Park, Mitchell, SD.
Kevin, you said 'what a great group of young men!' of this year's soccer team. Wow do I ever agree. The soccer team had a lunch at our house this past week, and they were the nicest bunch of guys I've met! I was nervous to have 35 men over for lunch, to be honest, but we had such a wonderful time with your team! All you DWU students and staffers out there - come out and support this soccer team, you'll like 'em!
