Bethany College Invite: Round 1
Well, we have just completed the first round of the 2008 season and there is a few things that come to mind: finishing strong, playing smart, being conservative. These are things that none of us did and we were all allowed to play in the same group to try and encourage each other. However, it was the first tournament round of the season and there is just not too much we could really accomplish, I don't think we were ready.
Here are the results from today's round for each player for the following course...
Salina Elks Country Club
Par 71
Yardage: 6031
Rating/Slope: 68.9/127
Tyler Evenson - 80 (41-39)
Comments: Held my round together considering it was the first round of the season and I got a few bad breaks but there is nothing you can do about that. Tomorrow is another day, so I'll just have to improve as much as possible.
Tom Hoek - 79 (43-36)
Comments: I played BAD but I am going to be throwing some nasty sauce tomorrow and light it up real bad!
Brett Abbotts - 78 (39-39)
Comments: Few mistakes here and there but with all things considering, I didn't play terrible. I can definitely post up a better number for tomorrow.
Nick Gates - 77 (39-38)
Comments: None.
Chris Pritchard - 76 (38-38)
Comments: Struck the ball pretty well, just had some trouble around the greens.
As a team, we fired a 310. We are currently tied for 6th and we can certainly improve a lot on our rounds that we had today. The round 1 leader fired a 68 which is a respectable score on the course that we played, so we have some work to do to get back into the mix of things as individuals. As I said earlier, today was a little different pairing, we were all in the same group. Golf is a game of honesty and integrity, so we should be able to trust the other teams in that respect. We are looking forward to tomorrow as the course looks really nice and flush as we have been chipping and putting on the greens already!
Look for more information about our rounds tomorrow!
